Our long-weekend getaway

                We have been craving a little beach time and some reprieve from the city sounds. We opted to pack it up for an area called Covenas. This turned out to be a good choice due to a couple key factors: it was cheap, solitary, and had hot sand under my feet.

                The itinerary was simple, look for a place to stay near the water and maybe take a couple little excursions if we got restless. The journey there turned out a bit adventurous in true Colombian style, it involved a plane ride to Bogota, one to Monteria, then a taxi for an hour, then a Motorcycle taxi then we walked for thirty minutes looking at places in vain. We then hopped a mini-bus for 20 minutes thoroughly exhausted stumbling into the next barrio.  This is when we started getting desperate and asking for prices. Since it was the low season (No Thanksgiving here, I guess the Pilgrims popularity has its limits) we got a great deal on a 8 person kitchenette suite at around 30 dollars for us both. The owners were cool and it served food so we threw off our vestiges and headed for the water.

                We found just enough to do, which was just about nothing…We read a lot and took a sweet dugout trip through some mangroves and saw an elusive flock of Piasa’s making quite a racket.
