Friday night we camped a few km from the hots prings and woke early the next morning for a guided hike up into the valley to see the sources of the hot springs. It was just the four of us and the guide. It was a very beautiful hike with lots of hot bubbling pools...

Me and the big leaf at the end of the hike...

The view of the valley

A great swimming hole but both the climate and the water are too cold for swimming. This water comes from the snowed covered mountains in the neighboring park.

A sketchy concrete trail covering the aqueduct.

Our Camp site

Camping behind the restaurant, our tents smelt way better than the musty rooms they were offering and ofcourse were a third of the price

The waterfall at the end of the hike (above the hotsprings)

Muddy steep slope but well equipped with rope

This trip looks awesome. I am jealous!
ReplyDeletePerhaps it is just me, but in just about every picture in your blog I can't help but get the feeling that certain painful death lurks just around every corner....
The disemboweled cow for sale on the roadside, the huge Tyranasaurus Rex leaves of the Columbian Rainforest hiding FARC cocaine processing plants from view, the rickety old walkway suspended over the chasm filled with skulls and daggers, the AK47 weilding bodyguards paid to follow children around all day, the slippery, moss-covered rock climb with a rope that was tied by some asshole who already got up top without a rope and doesn't care about who is below, malaria, dysentery, giardia.... and don't even get me started about what happens if the police need to get involved!
Wait, maybe "jealous" isn't the word... maybe I'm happy I get to live dangerously through you guys.
That's it.
